This Waiata tautoko was composed by Wiremu Graham of Te Uri o Tai hapū in 1966 for Roha Herbert and Maisie Ihaka, who were the tutors of the Pawarenga Kapa Haka rōpū at the time. It is about encouraging the rōpū to be proud of who they are and never to be embarrassed as they all descend from the waka and therefore are connected to Te Ao Māori.
