Marae

Tangihanga: Costs for hiring Roma Marae for tangihanga are priced on a daily basis beginning 2pm (food preparation can begin earlier) through to 10am of the following day.

The first day is $300, the second day is $400 and the third day is $500, which makes up the total hire for a 3 day tangihanga

Any extra day following the normal 3 days for a tangi is charged at an extra $100 per day. These prices are subject to review from time to time without notice and are available on request. The hire charge includes bedding, use of kitchen facility, crockery, pots and dishes, dining room and ablutions. The hire charge excludes costs for rubbish, laundry and power. The Trustee on duty will confirm these final costs on the last day of the hire period.

Cleaning

Cleaning of the marae facilities and grounds are the responsibility of the HIRER. ALL RUBBISH must be removed by the whanau or group hiring the Marae. Hirers are encouraged to use the re-cycle bins that are available on the Marae

The marae must be left clean and tidy and all dishes washed and put away. The washing machine in the kitchen is to be used for washing t-towels, aprons and dish-clothes ONLY - no clothes washing please. (There are 3 landrymats in Kaitaia for this purpose)

On the last day of your hire, sheets and pillow slips are to be placed into one bedsheet and left in the Whare for one of the committee to pick it up and deliver it to the laundrymat.

If the HIRER does not leave the marae in the condition in which it was hired then an extra charge of $100 will be added to the final bill to cover the costs of employing someone to clean the marae

Water Use

Please use water sparingly including having quick showers and ensuring that all taps are turned off properly when not being used. Make sure children are not leaving taps running and water is not being wasted.

In 2018 the Marae committee had Solar Panels installed on the roof of the Whare Kai. It would help if you are able to have showers in the day time when the panels are being charged. That will save any extra solar power for use at night time. Thank you for your consideration

Auahi-Kore

Roma Marae is auahi kore (smoke free) and alcohol free Marae. There is a designated area at the back of the Marae in the little lean-to shed built for that purpose.

The Roma Marae committee reserve the right to restrict hirage or in extreme cases to evict the hirer in the event that these omissions are not adhered to.

Kitchen

Under no circumstances should bowls, pots, or any other utensils be removed from the Marae premises otherwise the committee reserve the right to charge the whanau extra for replacement of missing items. It would be good if whanau come prepared with extra containers to take food home following each hui
